Baking a cake…
Posted by andie under Uncategorized…is definitely not easy. This would be the first time for me to bake a cake from complete scratch (though by this, I hope you wouldn’t go as far to thinking that I harvested the wheat by my self, sheesh!). My dad arrived at Manila last night, and my mom went to meet him there. They’ll be coming back tomorrow night. Being the good children that we are (or were… hmmm…), we decided to welcome them home properly. My sister and I would be making a “WELCOME HOME!!!” banner in a while, and I just finished with the finishing touches on the chocolate cake that my brother and I made. The cake tastes quite good (yay me!), though it cracked really badly in some places (boo me…). Hey, it is, after all, my first time! So sue me!
Sheesh. My writing has gone PRETTY RUSTY. I am beginning to suck at this. I haven’t written properly for a while now, so that makes it the circumstances’ fault, not mine. Though by circumstances, it could mean my laziness, for one. So I guess you could blame me.
Wait…
Wait….
OK. You can start blaming me now (wears headphones on max volume, tuned to a Screamo song).
OK. Enough with the interlude (need I remind you that I have a serious case of Attention Deficit Disorder?). Anyway, let’s start from somewhere that made honest sense. A few days back, my mom’s birthday (November 22) came to mind, and I made the decision to bake her a cake for her birthday. My brother, sister, and I decided yesterday that we would be buying the ingredients for the cake today (we would be making the cake together), but it wasn’t until this morning that I came around to deciding to make another cake to surprise the parents when they came home. The three piggies went to church, then went grocery shopping (after forcing me into treating them at KFC, sigh… I am 189 pesos poorer). Baking time came, and my sister didn’t join us, mainly because she’s a drug addict and an “abat” (these she would never deny, ASK HERRR!!!). No really, she was too tired to join us (considering she went to sleep early, yep, early in the morning, haha! So I guess that proves my sister is an “abat.”), so we went on without her. Nothing special much happened, save the fact that we made a complete mess of the kitchen. But hey, you should congratulate us! At least we didn’t blow up the house (haha!).
Yup. Today was a practice session for my mom’s birthday cake on Thursday. I still don’t know where I went wrong with the cake, but I really do hope I’d get it right 3 days from now. And yep! Baking a cake is an extremely lame excuse to start writing again. But yes, I am back, and I hope I do stay longer this time.
I’m tired. Sigh. Baking is such a good exercise, trust me.
